MELIA SMITH
SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR

 

Ms. Smith joined One Main Development in 2007 as Special Projects Coordinator. Her role draws on her broad base of work experience and involves her in many different activities, from managing public relations and marketing, coordinating contracts, and supporting sales activities. She recently served as project manager/owners’ representative on the M2 project, and she currently oversees One Main’s environmental initiatives.

Ms. Smith started her career as general manager for a high-volume regional photography company, where she successfully transitioned the organization from traditional film photography to complete use of digital equipment and an online sales environment. After that, she worked for a local advertising agency where her responsibilities ranged from project management to media buying and account service. Most recently, Ms. Smith was the sales manager for a local arts and entertainment newspaper, where she implemented new sales strategies and spurred new growth for the paper in the regional market.

Ms. Smith is active in the community and is a native of Champaign, Illinois. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned the distinction of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional in 2009. She was invited to serve on the Community Advisory Board for Illinois Public Media in 2010, and has spent the last year as the acting program director for CCNet, a nonprofit organization focused on convening Champaign County around issues related to sustainability. She is also a licensed real estate agent in Illinois.
